Update from Principal Thomas

Dear Denver South Students and Families,

Next week, we will have a modified schedule due to testing and virtual conferences. Please review the schedule below.

Virtual Conferences will be held Thursday, October 14th from 4-8pm and Friday, October 15th from 8am-12pm.

We are dedicating conferences to students with grades C or below. Parents will be able to select a 15 minute time slot for conferences using our PT conference website. We will send out the link early next week for sign up. Parents will need a GOOGLE email account to be able to sign into the Google Meet link.  If you do not have a Google account, you can click here for steps on how to create one.

If your students’ grades do not fall in this category, we encourage you to reach out to their counselor or individual teachers.

This week is Classified Employee Recognition Week. We want to thank our classified team members for all they do in supporting our families and students at Denver South High School.

Have a great weekend!

You can access current and past communications, as well as other important information on our website

Sculpture Program

The Denver South Sculpture program is looking for sculpture-building material donations. If you have some stuff in your garage, playroom, junk drawer, garden shed, basement, etc. that you want to get rid of, the sculpture program is always looking for new interesting materials to work with. Such as old art supplies, buttons, string, wire, small toys, small electronics, old tools, interesting tins, hardware, small farm equipment, really anything you think might be interesting to make a found object sculpture out of. Donations can be brought to the front office addressed to Kim Beckeman. Thank you so much!

Travel Opportunities

We are making FRANCE & SPAIN our classroom in 2023!

Dear SHS families–

We are thrilled to continue South’s burgeoning tradition of travel by offering an opportunity for our students to experience the vibrant people, delicious food, unique culture, flowing languages, adventure, and natural beauty of France & Spain in the spring of 2023. We will be hosting an online informational meeting so you can learn more from the comfort of your home while a $200 per student scholarship, Risk-Free Enrollment Period, and space on the tour are available.

We have been talking about this with the students at school and excitement is high! Please use the link below to register, even if you can’t make it (thank you!). For security reasons, you must register using the link below to receive the meeting link. This will be a fun evening and we look forward to seeing your family there!

Sincerely,

Katie Bourne & the France & Spain ‘23 Travel Team

Dress Code Feedback

At this time, we are starting the process of developing a new dress code. We would like feedback from student leadership groups, administrators, staff, and parents/guardians over the next couple of weeks. Please take some time and Click here to give us your feedback.

Until we have common language and proper visual representation of what the dress code will be at South High School, you might get phone calls if your student is found in violation of current dress code policies. We have, and will continue to provide shirts if students are found to be wearing clothing that shows too much skin in sensitive areas.

BESS Information & Parent Survey

As part of our effort to support the Whole Child, our school is implementing a universal social and emotional screening for students. Please complete the questionnaire by 10/22.

Health and Safety Reminder:

Please remember to come to school each day with an approved mask (no gaiters).  A well-fitting mask that goes over the mouth and nose is required for everyone to enter the building. If you are unable to provide your own mask, just ask at the front door or main office. As a reminder, all teachers will also have masks available in their classrooms. At this time, parents and families are not allowed in the building unless an appointment has been previously scheduled.
