Unified Sports

Many Unified Partners, Athletes, and Volunteers make this program a success! At Denver South we offer Unified Teams for Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball, Floor Hockey, and Track

Promoting Social Inclusion Through Sport: “Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.”

Unified Athletes: Benefit greatly from class and competition: Students learn the importance of communication, perseverance, and working together as a team to have fun! Athletes improve their mobility, coordination, and work on life skills like sharing and staying active.

Unified Partners: Students join Unified Class to earn PE credit while improving their physical fitness, sharpening their skills and learning acceptance and inclusion while participating in Unified Sports. A primary goal of Unified Sports is to equalize the ability level of Unified Athletes with their Partners and to promote inclusion through team practice and competition.
