The Denver South Food Pantry provides our students and their families with access to quality food items, personal care products, and cleaning supplies weekly. Through the concerted efforts of various entities within Denver South High School and beyond (weekly deliveries of fresh fruits and vegetables from We Don’t Waste and non-perishable items provided by Food for Thought and Food Bank of the Rockies) our community at-large truly supports one another. Recently, the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment’s (DDPHE) Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Commission awarded nearly $6 million in grant funding to feed hungry children and provide education around food and nutrition through the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids (HFDK) Initiative. These funds were distributed through competitive grants to non-profits and local government agencies who lead community-based food programs. Through the hard work of the Denver South Food Pantry grant team, we are one of 25 organizations that has proudly received HFDK funding. A full list of HFDK-funded organizations can be found here.
