Denver South Parents, Guardians, Students and Community,

We had another great week at South! I want to wish all of you a happy Labor Day.  I hope you all have a safe and restful three day weekend.

This year we are aiming  for all students to have 93% attendance.  Last year we received feedback from our teachers that attendance and tardiness at the beginning of the day and after lunch was significantly impacting instruction and class culture.  At the end of last year, over 40% of our students were coming late to 1st period every day.  This week began with 36% of our students being late to 1st period; that’s over 600 students. We really need everyone’s help to ensure that students are in their classrooms when school starts at 8:25.  When so many students are tardy, it is difficult for teachers to provide cohesive instruction and maximize student learning.  In order to hold students accountable for being on time to class and maintain a culture that prioritizes learning and college and career readiness, consequences for tardies will begin on Tuesday, September 5th.  We will always take family circumstances into account  when determining consequences.

As a reminder to anyone that is attending the South v. East Football game on Saturday (9/2) Denver South will be the away team. The Angels should plan to park and enter on the West side (S.Franklin) and the Ravens should plan to park and enter on the East side (S. Race Street). To allow for efficient access for spectators, please purchase your tickets ahead of time through the link that can be found here.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions at any time.
