Update from Principal Thomas

Dear Denver South Students and Families,

We are thrilled to welcome students back to the building next week! Freshmen will begin on Monday 8/23 in the Main Gym, and then proceed to their seminar class. All other grades will begin on Tuesday 8/24 in their seminar class. Please make sure your student knows what room their seminar class is in (see the resource linked below for more information):

All students should bring their district-issued Chromebooks to school on the first day. If you do not have a Chromebook, one will be provided.

We will have a special schedule this upcoming week to welcome everyone back. (pdf linked HERE). Please note: this schedule includes an early start on Tuesday, 8/24 for schedule distribution, and an early release on Friday.

The Friday Communication shares important information with our families, so be sure to check your email each week. You can also access current and past communications, as well as other important information on our website.

We look forward to coming back together with all of you this fall. Let’s all continue to support each other as we transition back in person and reconnect with our Raven family. We hope to have an amazing start to the new school year!

If for any reason, you will not be attending South High School next year, please email Irasema_Najera@dpsk12.org with your student name and their new school so that we can confirm their enrollment at their new school.

Changes at South

South Bench: Have you seen the new bench out front? Thank you to South alum Kyle Abrahm and Carter Martin for this special addition! The bench is located and designed to ensure our MIS students have a spot to sit while they wait for the bus, and it will also serve as a memorial to the retiring teachers of 2021. Click here for a photo.
Flag Pole: Our flag pole was relocated to the north side of our campus, by the digital marquee to allow for a tree-free, unobstructed view.
Gym Floor: Our main gym floor has been refinished and now proudly displays our Raven pride! Check out this video to see the changes.
Parking: There will be one entry on Franklin St. to the main parking lot for drop-off and parking. There will be one exit to Louisiana. Please note, you cannot make a left-hand turn out of our parking lot so please allow ample time if needed.

Denver South Sculpture program

The Denver South Sculpture program is looking for sculpture-building material donations. The sculpture program is always looking for new interesting materials to work with. Such as old art supplies, buttons, string, wire, small toys, small electronics, old tools, etc. Donations can be brought to the front office addressed to Kim Beckeman.
