Dear Denver South Students and Families,

Thank you all for attending SAT/PSAT/CMAS testing this week. We had a great turnout for testing and we are encouraging 95% attendance for the remainder of the year. Let’s finish strong!

Denver South High School has recently been recognized as a historical site!  The South Alumni Association will be hosting a dedication ceremony here at South on April 21st on the front lawn at 4:15pm. If you are interested in attending, please use the link to sign up HERE

Summer Concurrent Enrollment Opportunities

There are summer options available to provide students the opportunity to take college classes and earn both high school and college credits at no cost! See the link below (also posted in Schoology) and reach out to your student’s counselor with any questions and to register.

The DSF Scholarship application is due May 1st! Apply on the DSF website or visit the Future Center for more info! Not sure if you qualify? You must meet the following requirements to receive a scholarship:

👉 Attend a DPS High School for all years you’ve lived in Colorado.

👉 Graduate from a DPS High School with at least a 2.0 GPA.

👉 Demonstrate financial need with a final Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $16,640 or less.

👉 Complete the FAFSA, CASFA, or other financial aid application as required by your college.

👉 Complete any additional financial aid requirements as determined by your college’s financial aid office by July 15.

👉 Complete all steps needed to qualify for Colorado in-state tuition or state aid.

Spring is in the air…It’s time to refresh your Raven Spirit Wear!

The PTSA is offering new premium Denver South spirit wear to purchase for you, your kids and all those loved ones in your life!  The new gear is available for pre-order, click HERE.  Details:  All pre-orders must be placed by Monday, April 17th ~ Payment is made at the time of pickup, so please bring your credit card.** ~ Pick up is on Wednesday, April 19th from 3-4 pm in front of the school.  Look for the Denver South merchandise cart! ~ **If you would prefer to pay with cash, please email Catherine and let her know.

National Historic Registry CELEBRATION:  Friday, April 21st at 4:15pm
South High School has recently been recognized as a historical site!  Being on the National Historic Registry recognizes the rich history of South in its architecture, integrity and age of the building, as well as its significant place in history.  Please register HERE for the celebration.  The dedication will take place on the South High School front lawn.  Hosted by the South Alumni Association

Register For After Prom
Is your Junior or Senior student looking for something to do after prom?  Are they not going to Prom, but want to hang out with their friends on a Saturday night?  Come to Dave and Busters 11pm-2am on Saturday, May 6!  Free food, beverages and unlimited games (compliments of the PTSA) for the first 300 kids that register!  Click HERE to register by May 2nd.

Guests also need to be registered and approved by the school.

Senior Car Parade:  Friday, May 12th, 6pm
Join the jubilant class of 2023!  Seniors start the festivities by decorating their cars and bikes in the South parking lot at 4:30pm.  The actual parade begins at 6pm.  The route runs north up Franklin St. along the park then returns south on Williams St. back to the school.  We need parent volunteers to help plan prior to May 12th, as well as volunteers for the parade itself.  Click HERE to volunteer.

Giving Grocery The Denver South Giving Grocery is open to students after school every Thursday in Room 141.  The Giving Grocery provides free groceries, including fresh produce, meat, milk, cereal, and personal care items to South students. No registration is required, and all students are welcome!
