2.24 Update from Principal Goss

Posted May 19, 2023

Dear Denver South Students and Families,

Per the communication you received from DPS,  the Denver Public Schools Department of Climate and Safety received emailed messages through Safe2Tell about threats made.

We were on a secure perimeter. None of the schools were placed in a lockdown. Our Campus Safety Officers were present, with the assistance of Department of Climate and Safety patrol officers and Denver police, were able to conduct a rapid sweep of the interior and exterior of the schools and found no threats to our school communities.

They have increased the security presence for the remainder of the day and will evaluate the need for the increased presence next week.

If students need additional mental health resources, Colorado Crisis Services can be reached at 1-844-493-8255.

Congrats to our jazz band for a great performance at Dazzleโ€™s Denver, a locally owned nationally jazz venue. The event was a sold out show!

We also want to recognize our winter sports athletes for a great season.

Congratulations to wrestling on a great season! They finished with a 7-2 dual record, 6 state qualifiers, and 7 regional placers, and 2 Will Hoard award winners.

Girls Basketball had a great season as well. They fell short in the playoffs with a tough loss against Regis. They finished with a 16-8 season record.
Boys basketball had a great season finishing with a 13-11 record after falling short to a great Ft Collins team in the playoffs.
The girls swim and dive team had 10 state qualifiers (8 swimmers and 2 divers) in various relay and individual events. The team finished 4th in the league championship out of 13 teams.

Go Ravens

We are Denver South

Sincerely,

Principal Goss
