Dear Denver South Community,
I am writing to share with you that I have accepted the new position of Director of High Schools with Denver Public Schools. In this role I will have the opportunity to support and lead a collaborative of comprehensive high schools across DPS. While I am looking forward to this next step in my career, this also means that I will be leaving my position as principal of Denver South High School at the end of this school year.
Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving as your building principal. We have an amazing staff, families and — most importantly — students. It has been my pleasure to work in partnership with you all to create a great school community where we say “We Are Denver South” regardless of where you come from or what you look like. We have accomplished so much together. I am proud of the growth we have made and continue to make, both academically and socially. Our work has been rooted in equity and what is best for all students!
Leaving Denver South is an extremely difficult decision. However, I am confident the systems and structures that have been created at Denver South, as well as the relationships our school has developed with our community, will allow us to move forward and grow! Our Denver South staff continues to be deeply committed to our students and their families. I believe with all my heart that we have the very best students, staff and community, so I know you will continue to thrive.
Our Regional Instructional Superintendent, Drew Coleman, will be sharing an update early next week about how we will approach identifying the next principal for Denver South. Multiple South stakeholders and I will work with Drew Coleman to support the selection of the next principal in any capacity that will be helpful. Please be on the lookout for an email regarding the timeline and process for the principal selection process.
Thank you all for your support over the past four years, and for giving me the opportunity to help navigate in partnership with you through the strike, pandemic, and societal social injustice we were presented with in that time. It has truly been an honor to serve as the building leader at one of the best comprehensive high school communities. I will miss you all, especially the AMAZING Denver South students that I will carry in my heart as I embark on my next chapter. My hope and commitment is that the importance of this work will continue to have an even greater impact on DPS students!

Les escribo para comunicarles que he aceptado uno de los nuevos cargos de director de escuelas preparatorias en las Escuelas Públicas de Denver. En esta nueva función, tendré la oportunidad de apoyar y liderar a un equipo de colaboración de escuelas preparatorias integrales a través de las Escuelas Públicas de Denver. Durante los últimos cuatro años, he tenido el privilegio de servir como director de su escuela. Tenemos un personal escolar, unas familias y, lo que es más importante, unos estudiantes estupendos. Ha sido un placer para mí trabajar en alianza con todos ustedes para crear una excelente comunidad escolar en la que decimos “Somos Denver South”, independientemente de nuestra procedencia o apariencia. ¡Hemos logrado muchas cosas juntos! Estoy orgulloso del progreso que hemos tenido y seguimos teniendo, tanto en el área académica como social. Nuestra labor ha estado fundada en la equidad y en lo que es mejor para todos los estudiantes.
Marcharme de Denver South es una decisión sumamente difícil. Los echaré de menos a todos, especialmente a los MAGNÍFICOS estudiantes de Denver South, a quienes llevaré en mi corazón al adentrarme en mi próximo capítulo.
