Roberto has been an invaluable member of the wrestling team for the past four years. Despite never wrestling before high school, Cookie has qualified for states every year, earning as high as 6th place last year. This year, he is the 4th ranked wrestler in 4A in his weight class and is making a strong push for a state title. This past weekend he beat the 5th ranked wrestlers in both 5A and 4A on his way to win the 34th Annual JFK Commander Invite. In the process, he brought his season record to a near perfect 19-3 record.
Roberto’s skills are not limited to the wrestling mat. After a two year hiatus playing for the soccer team, Roberto rejoined the football team this year, and lettered as an offensive and defensive lineman. In the springtime, he is one of the top throwers on the track team.
Roberto may be a big strong guy, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he’s an extremely caring individual as well. On weekends and during the summer, he protects lives working as a lifeguard. He is also a cadet in an intensive police training program that meets once a week, training to protect and serve his local community.
Great job Cookie, and keep up the good work!
